PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid unnecessary reflection by a member behind a reflection part when an incoming luminous flux diameter is larger than the size of a reflecting part or when there is deviation in the position between the reflecting part and the incoming luminous flux. SOLUTION: A light deflector 101 includes: a base plate part 103; a reflecting part 102 which can rock with respect to the base plate part; and a diaphragm part 106 which has an aperture formed therein for letting the luminous flux among the incoming luminous fluxes to a light polarizing unit, which is made incident on the reflecting part and reflected by the reflecting part and made to exit, pass through, and which shields at least a part of luminous flux other than the luminous flux made incident on the aperture. At least a part of the aperture edges 301 of the diaphragm part is formed so as to narrow the aperture widths toward the reflecting part side from the front 106a side where the incoming luminous fluxes are made incident on the diaphragm part.
