PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the object detecting performance of a photographing system which detects an objective body from an image changing in photographing condition. SOLUTION: When objective body detection processing for detecting an objective body from a photographed image is performed, a scene of the image is discriminated, and a parameter to be used in detecting the objective body is controlled according to the result of discrimination.
