When performing a scan several times and plane dot data generation in accordance with an ink color in an ink jet recording device by using the error diffusion process for each plane, it is perform this without causing the problem of grain. More specifically, in a digitization process, the error diffusion process is performed on the division data of C (D8c/2) so as to obtain digital (dot) data (D2c1) for the first path. Next, the digitization process is performed on the division data of M (D8m/2). Here, a correction is made by adding a term of Kc1m1 (D8c/2 - D2c1) to the division data of M (D8m/2). The error diffusion process is performedon the corrected data [D8m/2 + Kc1m1(D8c/2 - D2c1)] so as to obtain the dot data (D2m1) for the first path of M. Thus, in generation of each plane, a correction is made to reflect the result of the digitization process performed for each of the planes and the error diffusion process is performed on the corrected data. |
