A composition comprising salts of hyaluronic acid is provided to prevent or treat lesions of the epithelium and connective tissue of the human and animal body by increasing the concentration of hyaluronic acid in the composition through reduction of hyaluronic acid viscosity. A composition for preventing or treating lesions of the epithelium and connective tissue comprises 0.001% to 100% of physiologically acceptable salts of hyaluronic acid having viscosity of 0 mPa.s at the concentration of 1%(w/v) in water at 20 deg. C and 10 mPa.s or less as the concentration of 6%(w/v) in water at 20 deg. C, and is formulated as cream or gel, wherein the salt is selected from sodium salt and potassium salt of hyaluronic acid; and the epithelium and connective tissue include surface of vagina and mouth, pharyngeal cavity, oral cavity, skin and mucosa such as anus.
