<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a conventional disk array is not constituted by combining disk devices whose reliability is different from each other. <P>SOLUTION: This storage device system is provided with a drive management means which is a program for recognizing the types of the disk devices and managing the different disk devices individually in the disk array, and a drive management table for storing information used by the drive management means. The system also includes the following means of programs for managing the cumulative time of the disk devices: a drive service life setting means for setting the service life of drive, a drive start/stop means for starting/stopping an ATA disk device according to a plan, and an operation time measuring means for measuring the cumulative time of operation. Since it is necessary to recognize the difference of reliability and performance of the disk devices when constituting RAID, a drive type notifying means is provided as a program for notifying the types of the disk devices when constituting RAID. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
