A method for transmitting a pilot signal in a multi-carrier communication system and a method for estimating a channel are provided to perform efficient communication with less power consumption by using a CQ(Channel Quality) pilot as well as a DM(Data Modulation) pilot for data demodulation. A method for transmitting a pilot signal in a multi-carrier communication system includes the step of transmitting one pilot as a CQ pilot and a DM pilot in case that the CQ pilot and the DM pilot are transmitted to the same time domain, wherein the one pilot is transmitted with a second level. The CQ pilot is transmitted with a first level in a time domain to transmit only the CQ pilot. The DM pilot is transmitted with the second level in a time domain to transmit only the DM pilot.
