PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve reading accuracy, to miniaturize a light source moving mechanism and to reduce power consumption in an image reader. SOLUTION: A scanner device 100 is equipped with a light source part for transmission 318 and an imaging device placed opposite to each other while putting an original platen glass to hold an original in between, and reads a light transmission type original by receiving light radiated from the light source part for transmission 318 by means of the imaging device. In the scanner device 100, an imaging device moving mechanism 223 reciprocates the imaging device in a predetermined direction, and the light source moving mechanism for reciprocating the light source part for transmission 318 in the predetermined direction interlocked with reciprocation by the imaging device moving mechanism 223 are coupled to be interlocked by a coupling mechanism 309. The coupling mechanism 309 has a torque limiter function to make the light source moving mechanism and the imaging device moving mechanism 223 slide in between when torque equal to or above a predetermined value is transmitted.
