PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric deionizer which can be operated stably, inexpensively, and efficiently for a long time by generating no scales even when hardness-raising components are contained in water to be treated. SOLUTION: The electric deionizer is made by alternately arranging a plurality of anion exchange membranes 13 and cation exchange membranes 14 between a cathode 12 and an anode 11 to alternately form a concentration chamber 15 and a desalting chamber 16. A pair of an anion exchange membrane 20B and a cation exchange membrane 20A are installed in the concentration chamber 15 to partition the concentration chamber 15, thereby forming a cathode side partitioned chamber 15A and an anode side partitioned chamber 15B in the concentration chamber 15.
