<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite retardation plate which hardly causes fine cracking on a coating retardation layer and can suppress the occurrence of light leakage when the plate to be used is stuck to a liquid crystal cell, and to provide a convenient manufacturing method of the composite retardation plate, a composite optical member using the composite retardation plate, and a liquid crystal display device using the composite optical member. <P>SOLUTION: The composite retardation plate 10' is constituted so that the coating retardation layer 13 containing an organic modified clay composite and a binder resin is formed on a transfer base material 14, and separately, dry surface treatment (e.g. corona discharge treatment) is applied to the surface of a retardation plate 11 made of a transparent resin, and an exposure surface of the retardation layer 13 formed on the transfer base material 14 is pasted on the surface subjected to the dry surface treatment, and then the transfer base material 14 is stripped from the retardation layer 13. A pressure-sensitive adhesive layer 18 can be disposed on the outside of the retardation layer 13. The composite retardation plate is stacked on other optical layer such as a polarizer to form a composite optical member and the composite optical member is combined with the liquid crystal cell to form the liquid crystal display device. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
