<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reliable power module that accurately detects overheating of a power element in real time and cools it. <P>SOLUTION: In a power module for power electronics circuits having a metal heat sink 1, an insulating board 2 stuck onto the heat sink 1, and a power element 5 stuck to the insulating board 2, a thermoelectric module 14 is arranged at a position that is stuck to or near a power element 5. In the thermoelectric module 14, insulating boards 14b, c are provided on both surfaces of a thermoelectric semiconductor device 14a for carrying out thermoelectric conversion. Via an external terminal 14f, the thermoelectric module 14 is connected to a decision circuit 16 for deciding the output value of the thermoelectric module 14 and a protective circuit 17 for supplying power to the thermoelectric module 14 for deciding the size of the output value by the decision circuit 16.
