A display device and a method for driving the same are provided to prevent stripe patterns by compensating for the difference of mobility in a driving transistor for every pixel. A display device includes a pixel array unit(11) and a dependence removing unit. The pixel array unit includes plural pixel circuits. Each of the pixel circuits includes an optic element(31), a driving transistor(32) for driving the optic element, a sampling transistor(33) for sampling an input signal voltage, and a capacitor(37) for holding current between gate and source of the driving transistor during a display period. The dependence removing unit feeds back current between gate and source to a gate side of the driving transistor, and removes dependence on the mobility of the current between gate and source of the driving transistor during a compensation period before illuminating the optic element.
