<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil seal which is placed in an annular space left to a bidirectionally rotatable shaft, so that ribs on a slanting surface on the atmosphere side of an oil-seal lip performs functions of pumping in whichever direction the shaft may rotate, forward or reverse. <P>SOLUTION: The oil seal is placed between relatively rotating two members, and is provided with an annular member 2 and a sealing main-body 3. The oil seal is fit to a housing, and the oil-seal lip 41 is brought slidably into close contact with the shaft 8. A plurality of ribs 5 are provided orthogonally to a lip-edge line 45 on the slant surface 44 on the atmosphere side of the oil-seal lip 41. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
