PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vegetational mat and a method for vegetation utilizing seeds of local plants enabling the restoration of the vegetation using the existing plants in a desired object part of greening without converting a place where surface soil is collected into a bare field by effectively utilizing a small amount of the surface soil with a small amount of locally collected seeds contained in the local surface soil and restoring the vegetation. SOLUTION: This vegetational mat is obtained by sewing a pair of face side and back side covering sheets 2 and 3 comprising biodegradable fibers at a suitable interval and forming each opening 2a for filling the local surface soil 5 containing the seeds A of the local plants in the one covering sheet 2 according to the sewing interval thereof in the space between both the covering sheets 2 and 3.
