PURPOSE: To remove foreign bodies such as water from the surface of a window by fixing a transducer, which receives a reflected ultrasonic signal representative of the presence of the foreign bodies to analyze a detection signal, so as to pushing its first face against the inside surface of the window. CONSTITUTION: A detection means 8 comprises an ultrasonic transducer 30, wherein the transducer 30 can emit an incident ultrasonic signal propagating within the thickness of a windshield 1, receives a reflected ultrasonic signal representative of the presence of the foreign bodies to analyze the detection signal, and supplies the detection signal to a control circuit to be used for activating a motor 14. The transducer 30 is accommodated and fixed in a plastic housing 36 having a cross section like a tube so as to seal up its first end by making a first face 37 installed with an electrode flush with the outside surface of the housing 36 or by making the first face project slightly from the outside surface.
