PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new L-carnosine derivative which overcomes the difficult points of L-carnosine, is stable to carnosinase, and is excellent in an anti-oxidizing action. SOLUTION: This L-carnosine derivative is represented by the general formula (II), or its pharmacologically acceptable salt, ester or amide. This compound can be used for medicines, skin cosmetics and the like for treating or preventing diseases caused by damages due to active oxygen species, for preventing ageing, and the like.
