PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can reduce power consumption during image formation without bringing a user inconvenience in comparison with one that lowers an image formation speed uniformly not depending on input information. SOLUTION: When image formation is carried out on the basis of the input information which makes a time necessary after the image formation is started before ended shorter than a predetermined value, a printing speed is lowered, thereby reducing the power consumption during printing. On the other hand, when image formation is carried out on the basis of the input information which makes long the time after the image formation is started before ended, the image formation is carried out by a normal printing speed.
