SYSTEM FOR PRINTING BILLS HAVING CODED DATA FOR ENABLING PAYMENT

A system for enabling payment of bills is provided comprising a printer, sensing device and computer system. The printer prints, on a surface, a bill containing information relating to a requested payment and coded data indicative of an identity of the bill and of at least one reference point of the bill. The coded data is printed in infrared absorptive ink on the surface. The sensing device is an infrared sensitive optical sensing device for sensing the coded data so as to read indicating data encoded by at least some of the coded data. The indicating data is indicative of the identity of the bill and a position of the sensing device relative to the bill. The computer system receives the indicating data sensed by the sensing device and identifies at least one parameter relating to the requested payment from the indicating data.
