PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article receiving device capable of reducing cost by simplifying its constitution. SOLUTION: An article receiving tool 4 is provided, which is capable of changing the position to the article stop-operative position at which the tool is protruded above a conveyance-operative surface Z of a conveyor 1 for loading and conveying an article and for regulating the movement to the downstream side in the conveying direction, and the article passage permitting position at which the tool is retracted below the conveyance-operative surface. The article receiving tool 4 is supported in a position changing manner at the reception waiting position at which the tool is protruded above the conveyance-operative surface Z on the upstream side in the conveying direction from the article stop-operative position. An urging means F for return-urging the article receiving tool 4 to the reception waiting position is provided so that the tool is returned from the article stop-operative position to the reception waiting position, and returned from the article passage permitting position to the reception waiting position.
