<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine exhaust gas recirculation system having a high exhaust high gas cooling effect due to air-cooling. <P>SOLUTION: In an EGR system 24 for an engine 1 having an EGR pipe 27 between an exhaust manifold 7 and an intake manifold 6 to return part of exhaust gas to the intake side, a thin and wide expansion chamber 26 is provided in the intermediate part of the EGR pipe 27 and just below the exhaust manifold 7. The expansion chamber 26 is disposed just below the exhaust manifold and more specifically on the left lateral face of a cylinder block 2 behind a cooling fan 25 (on the downstream side of a cooling air flow). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
