PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly adjust the temperature distribution of a fixing roller in an induction heating type fixing device used for image forming apparatus such as an electrostatic copying machine, a printer, a facsimile or the like. SOLUTION: In the fixing device equipped with: a fixing roller (1); and a pressure roller (2) pressure-contacted with the fixing roller and being rotated, the inside of the hollow fixing roller (1) is provided with a coil unit (5) for induction heating comprising a magnetic substance core and an exciting coil, and the spacing part between the fixing roller in each edge part of the fixing roller (1) and the coil unit (5) is provided with a magnetic shielding plate insertable from the outside of the fixing roller into the fixing roller to an axial direction, and by the insertion or extraction of the magnetic shielding plate, the heating temperature of each edge part in the fixing roller is made adjustable.
