A plasma display device is provided to prevent flickers on the screen by turning off the switching device during a first period when a frequency of an input image signal is changed. A plasma display panel(100) displays an image by a frame comprising plural subfields, and a driver(110) divides the frame into a first subfield group and a second subfield group, when a vertical frequency of an image signal inputted is less than a critical frequency, and constitutes the frame by a third subfield group comprising one or more subfields when the vertical frequency is more than the critical frequency. The critical frequency is substantially more than 50 Hz and less than 60 Hz. The frequency of the image signal comprises a first frequency lower than the critical frequency and a second frequency lower than the first frequency.
