A strip welding apparatus is provided to effectively remove slag from the outer surface of a welding wheel, and improve circularity of the welding wheel. A strip welding apparatus includes frames(20), welding wheels(30), and variable dressing units(50). The frames are spaced apart from each other such that a strip moves along the space formed between the frames. The welding wheels are mounted on the respective frames, and weld overlapped ends of front and rear strips(1a,1b). The variable dressing units dress outer surfaces of the welding wheels at an appropriate pressure by tightly contacting the outer surfaces of the welding wheels. The dressing units include dressing members(42) which rotate by dressing motors(43), and driving units for permitting the dressing members to contact the outer surfaces of the welding wheels at an appropriate pressure. The dressing members are mounted on one ends of link members(60) which are rotatable about respective rotary shafts(62) of the frames. The driving units include driving motors(44) mounted on the respective frames, and threaded shafts(46) which rotate by the driving motors. The threaded shafts are mounted on the other ends of the link members so as to rotate the other ends of the link members about the rotary shafts. |
