PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging unit capable of consecutively capturing foreign matters in an optical path, using a simple constitution. SOLUTION: An imaging element 14 is fitted to a board 22 fitted to a base end part of a lens barrel 12, and a containing chamber 26 for capturing foreign matters, such as contaminants in the lens barrel 12, is provided at a lower position of the imaging element 14.
