<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image fiber with small diameter and multi-pixels, optical equipment using the same, and a manufacturing method of the image fiber. <P>SOLUTION: The image fiber is composed of a large number of cores 11, a common clad 12 held between these cores 11 and formed in a manner the cores 11 sharing one clad, a jacket tube 13 installed in the outer periphery of this clad 12, and a coating layer 14 coating the outer periphery of this jacket tube 13, wherein the cross section vertical to the longitudinal direction of the cores 11 has an anisotropic shape. Pixel density in the end face of the image fiber is made higher 1.01-50 times relative to other radial directions, in one direction vertical to the longitudinal direction.
