<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrophilic porous metal member having a hydrophilic property even under fuel cell environment, formed by coating noble metal on a porous metal member, and to provide the method of manufacturing the hydrophilic porous metal member. <P>SOLUTION: The porous metal member coated with noble metal is surface-treated with a solution of thiol compound having a hydrophilic group and dried to manufacture the hydrophilic porous metal member having hydrophilic property even under the fuel cell environment. Porous stainless steel or porous titanium, coated with gold is surface-treated with the solution of thiol compound containing, for example, a methoxysilyl group, a carboxylic group, or a sulfonic group to form the hydrophilic porous metal member. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
