PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved abrasive grain wheel for grinding a surface and provide a method of manufacturing the wheel. SOLUTION: The abrasive grain wheel 110 has an irregular peripheral configuration or a hole penetrating itself, which enables viewing the surface of a work being ground in the process of usual surface finishing, burr removal, or weld blending. Each abrasive grain wheel may have one or more gaps 112 arranged at a certain spacing at the circular wheel periphery. In addition to or in lieu of gap(s), the wheel can be furnished with a plurality of holes arranged alike at a constant spacing. The positions of the gaps and holes are selectable so as to keep the balance of the wheel. When the wheel rotates round its own axis, it is possible to monitor the surface condition of the work being ground without moving the wheel from the surface of the work. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
