A recording control method in a DVR(Digital Video Recorder) is provided to correct a compression rate and a frame rate of video data automatically by referring to weather information provided from a CP(Contents Provider) server. A DVR receives weather information from a CP server connected through a network. The DVR varies and controls a recording condition of video data by referring to the received weather information. If the DVR is in a certain time period or a specific recording mode, the DVR performs interface operation with the CP server connected through the network and requests and receives the weather information of a specific area where a monitoring camera is installed.
