825,091. Controlled non-linear inductors. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO. Ltd. Nov. 7, 1957 [Feb. 22, 1957], No. 6023/57. Class 40 (9). [Also in Group XXXV] D.C. voltage is stabilized by charging a capacitor from a rectifier through a " resetting " type of reactor, the " resetting " being controlled by variably discharging the capacitor back through the reactor (and a control valve) during the non-conducting half-cycles of the supply rectifier. The effect of discharge current due to rectifier leakage may be off-set by a control winding on the reactor carrying the current to an external load (not shown). The capacitor 5 is charged through the reactor 4 from a full-wave bridge rectifier 3, and the " resetting " current is determined by the triode 6 shunted across the input side of the reactor 4. The triode 6 is controlled by a fixed negative bias and a portion of the voltage across the capacitor 5. |
