<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To materialize access control over a part of a shared document to be a structured document held in a server by preventing information written to the shared document from being read in accordance with a user's authority of a client. <P>SOLUTION: The server 1 deletes a mask object in the structured document to be a part of the shared document, issues a mask object which constitutes each layout object of the structured document in accordance with the user's authority of the client 20, and adds the issued mask object to shared document data from which the mask object received from the server 1 has been deleted.
