PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that the number of cameras mounted on a vehicle body is too large to control when the cameras are mounted on a vehicle as usage. SOLUTION: When the cameras 1L, 1R capable of moving the image picking direction by almost 90 degrees are mounted near both ends of the front or the rear of the vehicle, and when the cameras 1L, 1R pick up the image in the advancing direction of the vehicle, the image taken by one of the cameras 1L, 1R is selected by a changeover switch 7. When picking up the image in the lateral direction, the images of the cameras 1L, 1R are composed by a right and left image composing portion 6 to produce a right and left screen composite image, and the composite image is selectively displayed on a display means 20 by the changeover switch 7.
