PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processor and a control method thereof to shift the stopped information processor to operate at a high speed. SOLUTION: A CPU 103 of a printer 100 selects a start-up program among a plurality of types of start-up programs stored in an HDD 109. When the selected start-up program is not stored in a first partition of the HDD 109, the CPU 103 transfers the start-up program from a fourth partition whose data read speed is lower than that of the first partition, to the first partition. The CPU 103 can shift the stopped information processor to operate at a high speed by executing the start-up program stored in the first partition. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
