A wire twister apparatus is provided to prevent release of twisting of wires used in wiring of vehicle harness, and a method for operating the same is provided. A wire twister apparatus includes: a first twist motor(410) for rotating the first rotary body such that only the first wire is twisted itself after connecting a front end of a first wire(431) used in wiring of vehicle harness to a first rotary body(411) and fixing a front end of a second wire(432) to the first rotary body; a second twist motor(420) for rotating the second rotary body such that the twisted first wire and the untwisted second wire are twisted with each other after connecting a rear end of the first wire and a rear end of the second wire to a single second rotary body(421); and a twist motor control unit(500) for receiving a twist winding number to display the twist winding number and individually supplying a rotary drive force according to the received twist winding number into the first twist motor and the second twist motor such that the twisted first wire and the untwisted second wire are twisted with each other after twisting the first wire itself.
