POLARIZING PLATE, ILLUMINATION DEVICE AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE USING THE SAME

A polarizing plate, an illumination device and an LCD device using the same are provided to reduce a motion blur and an afterimage in the display of a motion picture suppressing the deterioration of display brightness. A light source controller(22) of a control circuit(16) synchronizes a latch pulse signal outputted from a gate driver controller(18) to a gate driver(12) to output light emission control signals to each light source power circuit(35~38). The each light source power circuit switches light emission states of cold cathode fluorescent lamps(30~33) to one of a first to a third light emission states based on the inputted light emission control signals and lights an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) panel(2) from the rear of a display area. The emission state of a first stage is a blackout state. The emission state of a second stage is a maximum lighting state when maximum lighting brightness is acquired. The emission state of a third stage is an intermediate lighting state when the brightness of about a half of the emission state of the second stage is acquired.
