A diimmonium salt is provided to obtain a near infrared ray absorbing film having excellent durability against light, heat and water, non-harmful to the human body, and showing excellent absorbance in the near infrared region. A diimmonium salt for a near infrared ray absorbing film is represented by the following formula 1. In formula 1, n is an integer of 1-2; each of R1-R8 independently represents a substituted or non-substituted C1-C10 linear or branched alkyl, wherein the substituent is cyano, nitro, carboxy, sulfone, halogen, hydroxy, C1-C8 alkoxy, alkoxyalkoxy, acyloxy, alkylamino, C6-C18 aryl or aryloxy; X- is a substituted fluoroalkyl phosphate anion represented by the following formula 2. In formula 2, x is 0 or 1; y is an integer of 1-3; z is an integer of 6-y; and each of R9-R13 independently represents H or F, with the proviso that at least one of R9-R13 is F.
