An electric power steering apparatus for a vehicle is provided to compensate for a gap between a worm wheel and a worm by applying support force in the radial direction of a worm shaft using a shape memory alloy changing the shape according to temperature. An electric power steering apparatus for a vehicle comprises a worm shaft(210) driven by a motor(130), a worm wheel(203) engaged with the worm shaft, a bearing(205,206) provided at both ends of the worm shaft, and a shape memory alloy(300). One end of the shape memory alloy makes close contact with one side of the bearing and the other end of the shape memory alloy is coupled with a housing(301). An elastic member(303) is provided between the housing and the other side of the bearing opposite to the surface where the shape memory alloy is contacted.
