The invention relates to a process for preparing metal powder, in particular powder of slightly carburized iron employed in iron metallurgy, associated or not with hydrogen production, and to an installation for carrying out said process. According to the invention, the process consists in partially deoxidizing the iron ore preheated at 450 C, by using a gaseous mixture comprising mainly CO and H2 as a reduction agent, a part of the partly reduced ore being then recycled and reoxidized with oxygen from steam, thereby resulting pure hydrogen, and afterwards reintroduced into the main ore flow, which is further subjected to deoxidation until it is completed, then the deoxidized powder is cooled, separated from the possible tailings and is conditioned as briquettes or packaged. The claimed installation comprises basically an ore bin (1), a deoxidation reactor (4), a steam reoxidation reactor (14), some final deoxidation reactors (20) and some heat exchangers (7, 8, 25 and 35).
|
