<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and an image forming method by which a processing is performed inexpensively without upsizing the apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 where respective color toner images are multiply transferred to an intermediate transfer body 21 by controlling the forming timing of the color toner images respectively based on a reference position on the surface of the intermediate transfer body 21 is equipped with: a rugged part detection means 50 detecting a rugged part from the surface of the intermediate transfer body 21; and a reference rugged part setting means for setting any one of the detected rugged parts as a reference rugged part showing the reference position. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
