A backlight assembly and an LCD including the same are provided to prevent backlight assembly models from varying with a lamp connector being used by implementing a connection structure between a lamp and an inverter using a lamp socket. A mold frame(800) includes a predetermined receiving space. A lamp unit(400) is disposed in the receiving space of the mold frame. The lamp unit includes at least one lamp(410) and a plurality of lamp sockets(420) for fixing the lamp and disposed at the mold frame to apply power to the lamp. The lamp unit includes an inverter(430) for supplying a power voltage, and a conductor for electrically connecting the lamp socket with the inverter. The lamp unit further includes a printed circuit board for mounting the inverter. The inverter or the inverter printed circuit board is disposed on the mold frame.
