<p>In an internetwork having a hierarchical address structure with a number of address areas, a basic idea is to successively build up, for a given resource, a distributed name- to-address resolution chain through the hierarchical address structure by means of a set of interlinked resolution key codes for bridging between address areas on different levels of the hierarchical address structure. Name-to-address resolution may then be performed, during routing of a message in the internetwork, by successively backtracing the distributed name-to-address resolution chain through said hierarchical address structure by means of the resolution key codes that bridge between address areas on different levels of the hierarchical address structure.</p> |
