PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmissive display device with which an image to be superposed on an optical image of a subject and displayed is displayed with colors. SOLUTION: The transmissive display device has a display unit 20 and a light source unit 11. The display unit 20 has first and second glass substrates 21a, 21b, first and second transparent electrodes 22a, 22b, and a polymer dispersed liquid crystal layer 23. The light source unit 11 has organic EL elements emitting red, green and blue rays. The light source unit 11 emits the red, green and blue rays to a side face of the first glass substrate 21a. The rays emitted to the first glass substrate 21a advance through the inside of the first glass substrate 21a. A portion of rays is made incident on the polymer dispersed liquid crystal layer 23. When voltage is applied between the first and second transparent electrodes 22a, 22b, the rays are transmitted through the polymer dispersed liquid crystal layer 23. When the voltage is not applied between the first and second transparent electrodes 22a, 22b, the rays are diffused in the polymer dispersed liquid crystal. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
