PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a shock caused by folding etc. can cause an unexpected fault since a conventional seat reclining device has a constitution of winding a leaf spring on an operation shaft put through a locking mechanism and a casing, engaging the leaf spring to the casing and the operation shaft, and rotating the operation shaft by operation of a handle to lock and unlock the locking mechanism for tensing/relaxing the leaf spring, so that folding of the reclining seat depends on rebounding force of the leaf spring exclusively. SOLUTION: One end of a spring which regulates reclining is fixed to the locking mechanism which locks and unlocks a seat reclining mechanism, and the other end is fixed to a second medium pivotally fitted to the main body of the seat reclining mechanism. By the regulation of the spring, the spring is compressed when the seat back is inclined backward, and the compression of the spring is relaxed when the seat back is inclined forward.
