DISTANCE RECOGNITION SYSTEM, OPTICAL BEACON, ON-VEHICLE UNIT, VEHICLE, AND DISTANCE RECOGNITION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distance recognition system obtaining a distance to a stop line ahead in the travel direction of a vehicle with improved accuracy.

SOLUTION: A predetermined range on a road R is set as a communication area A, and after an optical beacon 2 receives up-link information transmitted from an on-vehicle unit 1, predetermined down-link information is repeatedly transmitted to the on-vehicle unit 1. The down-link information includes distance information on the distance L to the stop line P ahead from the communication area A and transmission progress information based on transmission of first down-link information after receiving the up-link information. The on-vehicle unit 1 receives the down-link information and corrects distance information using the included transmission progress information to obtain the distance L1 to the stop line P.
