PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To image roadside views while a vehicle travels, to prepare map information of a map including the roadside views to display it on a display, to check the map information displayed on the display, in order to safely and surely find out a destination, to surely arrive at the destination, and the like, in a navigation device for a vehicle. SOLUTION: Roadside views on both sides of the vehicle C are imaged continuously or intermittently from the vehicle C by an imaging means 1, while the vehicle C is traveling. Image information of the roadside views is stored by an image information processing/storage means 3, in association with positions detected by a position detection means 2, when scenic images are imaged. Based on the information processed and stored by the processing/storage means 3, map information of a map is prepared by a map information preparation means 4 and is displayed on the display 7, with the map containing roadside views, obtained by disposing a plurality of view images so that they serve as roadside views.
