PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for inhibiting nocturnal insect pests, utilizing light to inhibit their behavior, settable in between ridges planted with a crop, thereby effecting higher pest-controlling efficiency through light irradiation throughout a wide area planted with the crop. SOLUTION: The device 1 for inhibiting nocturnal insect pests comprises a hollow light guide form 3 and a light source 2 set on the end of the light guide form 3 and functioning to irradiate the ambience with light with about 490-700 nm wavelengths. By setting the light guide form 3 in between ridges 5 and 5 planted with a crop 6, the nocturnal insect pests under the crop 6's leaves also come to an object to be irradiated with the light, thus enabling the behavior of these insect pests to be inhibited as well and effecting higher pest-controlling efficiency of this device 1.
