A multimedia message reply method of a mobile communication terminal and the mobile communication terminal for performing the method are provided to offer a media file insertion menu of a reply multimedia message automatically according to configuration sequence and a type of a media file attached to a received multimedia message, thus a user can conveniently write the reply multimedia message. A reply for a received multimedia message is requested(S310,S320). A configuration type of a media file attached to the received multimedia message is confirmed(S330,S340). An insertion menu of a media file to be attached to a reply multimedia message is provided according to the confirmed configuration type(S350). The configuration type of the media file attached to the received multimedia message is confirmed by referring to an SMIL(Synchronized Multimedia Integrated Language) file of the received multimedia message.
