PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reproduce colors in appropriate graduation, and to improve a color balance or distinctiveness of colors.

SOLUTION: A scene analyzer 710 creates a graduation correction LUT based on a graduation conversion method corresponding to a photography scene determined by a scene analysis processing. An image processor 70 creates a composite LUT by synthesizing a graduation correction LUT and a mapping LUT. A color conversion definition adjuster 750 adjusts the composite LUT so as to be closer to the characteristic of the mapping LUT, by comparing a hue characteristic of the mapping LUT and the composite LUT, a chroma characteristic, and a color characteristic of a gray color when a difference is a threshold or more between each characteristic of the composite LUT and each characteristic of the mapping LUT.
