DEVICE AND METHOD FOR RECORDING AND REPRODUCING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing device and a recording and reproducing method which can automatically carry out editing such as deletion of unwanted parts from recorded content without using a copying process.

SOLUTION: A recorded data storage 27 stores data of the recorded content in advance. An index information storage 22 stores index information corresponding to each part of the recorded content classified by attribute from outside. Using designation information designated by attribute by the user and the index information given to each part of the recorded content by attribute, a play list creator 24 creates a playlist indicating articles to be edited by attribute based on the designation information. A playlist storage 25 stores the playlist created by the playlist creator. A content editor 26 edits the articles to be edited of the recorded content stored in the recorded data storage 27 based on the index information stored in the index information storage and the playlist stored in the playlist storage.
