PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a unit type programmable controller capable of surely setting a node address in a stable state of a data bus. SOLUTION: This unit type programmable controller has a basic casing unit 110A, extension casing units 120 to 150, a through-bus, a tail end block 160 and input-output interface circuits 122 to 152. The basic casing unit 110A includes a node address setting means for setting the node address. The input-output interface circuits 122 to 152 have connecting position logical information for indicating whether or not a connecting position is the final connecting position. The node address setting means successively assigns and sets different node addresses to the input-output interface circuits 122 to 152 up to the final connecting position included in the connecting position logical information from the first connecting position, when confirming the connection of a tail end block 160 by a connection confirming signal END 1, when starting operation of a microprocessor 111.
