PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air jet loom preventing the loosening of a weft yarn, twist reversion and falling off from a nozzle for weft yarn insertion while stopping the loom. SOLUTION: This air jet loom stopping the loom in a state of cutting the weft yarn inserted directly before the stopping of the loom by a feeding yarn cutter is provided with a control device for controlling weft yarn-holding and releasing movements by a length-measuring and storing device, the ejection movement of the weft insertion nozzle and the opening movement of a warp yarn-opening device, the regulating device releases the holding state of the weft yarn on the length-measuring and storing device after controlling the opening device to bring the warp yarn into a waiting state after stopping the loom and also discharging the weft yarn having a prescribed length toward the warp yarn from the weft insertion nozzle by injecting compressed air into the weft insertion nozzle. Further, a method for actuating the loom afterwards by manually engaging part of the discharged weft yarn extending from the tip end of the weft insertion nozzle on a woven fabric, and hitching-over the discharged weft yarn in front of a feeding yarn cutter is also included.
