PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning tool for an imaging element with excellent portability and operability capable of surely protecting a member from which an extraneous material is removed. SOLUTION: When the cleaning tool 10 is not in use, a protection cover 16 is fitted to a support member 14 so that an inner wall face 16I is in contact with to a first fitting part 14S<SB>1</SB>, and a roller 12 is tightly sealed by the protection cover 16. When the cleaning tool 10 is used to clean an LPF surface 36, the protection cover 16 is fitted to a position as shown in Fig. 5. When the cooling tool 10 is moved along the LPF surface 36 as shown in the arrow A in a state that a roller surface 12S is in contact with the LPF surface 36 being a surface to be cleaned, The roller 12 is turned on the LPF surface 36 to adhesively remove the extraneous material on the LPF surface 36.
